Hi All,

Just a reminder that our hot dog stand is scheduled for this Saturday, July 8th at the Wal-Mart on 64. The time is 10-2 pm . We are still in need of a couple of grills and volunteers. So far, we only have three adults who have volunteered. The students who participate will be eligible for community service hours. Also, the monthly Band Booster's meeting is on Monday, July 10 th at 6 pm. The executive committee will meet at 5 pm . We will need to sign up volunteers for Band Camp. Also, I will have the release forms with me. These have to be notarized, but I am a notary. Please try to attend. In order to have a successful year, we will need all the volunteers we can get!

Thanks

Betti Hargen

Hey Everyone,

The marching band is holding a hot dog sale on Saturday July 8th, from 10am - 2pm.  The sale will be at the Walmart on State Road 64.  We are in need of volunteers to come out and support the band.  Remember the kids will earn community service hours for their participation at the sale.

We are also in severe need of supplies for the sale.  Hotdogs, buns, chips, sodas, bottled water, condiments, paper products (napkins, hotdog wrappers and/or hotdog boats), ice, coolers, canopies, and we will definitely need at least one gas grill.

If anyone can help with any supplies for the hotdog sale, they would be greatly appreciated.  Please call Melissa Coxwell at 730-5473 or send an email to hotdogsale@brbba.com

Come out and show your support for our terrific marching band, as we get ready for a totally fantastic marching season!

Monday is the deadline for candle order forms and money.  There will be a box in the band room for collection. Tickets for the Winter Concert will be on sale at the Monday night band booster meeting.  $6 per adult.  Children and students are free.  Please buy your tickets in advance. And remember the auction.  We will accept checks made out to BRBBA.  Please get those items turned in ASAP. Cheesecakes will be delivered on Thursday, the 17th, in the band room.  You may pick them up between 2-6.  We still need volunteers during this time.  Please call me at 746-7874 if you can help.  All cheesecakes MUST be picked up by 6:00. Thank you, Terry Remijio

Parents, the order forms and money are due this coming Monday, the 14th.  Please turn in to the band room.  You may also bring your orders in Monday night at the band booster meeting. Remember!  We earn 50% on all sales. Delivery date is December 5th.

Parents, we still have time slots left to sell tickets at the mall.  Please help support the band by donating a little bit of your time.  Each ticket sold will earn $5 for the band.  The sign-up sheets are located on the bulletin board right inside the band room. The dates are as follows:
October 21, 22, 23
November 4, 5, 6
Please stop by the bulletin board each time you enter the band room for information on upcoming events and how you can help! With so few parents, we need the support of everyone to be successful.

In case you did not take advantage of ordering cheesecakes, there's still a chance to buy.  One less thing to bake for Thanksgiving dinner.  Also a great gift to take when visiting during the holidays. The Band still earns 40%.  Plus, I have nowhere to store them...so please help!  Order today. We will have extras of each flavor, so email me with your choice ASAP.  They will be delivered the week of November 14th.

Chocolate Swirl
Cookies n' Cream
Strawberry Symphony
Apple Crumb
NY Original
Triple Chocolate
Gourmet Turtle
Country Apple Cake

Thank you,
Terry Remijio

MANDATORY MARCHING BAND PARENT MEETING: Monday, October 17th, 6pm in the band room.  We will discuss upcoming competitions, concerts, and parades.  Please be there if at all possible.

BRHS Spirit Week begins Monday October 3 rd and will invade the campus with events, talent shows, athletic events and from what I understand, even Sumo Wrestling matches between the faculty.  These week long events culminate with the Pirate Junior Varsity football team taking on Lakewood Ranch on Thursday, 6pm at Pirate Stadium.

Tickets are now on sale as the BRHS Band Boosters and Athletic Boosters together host the 'First Annual Pirate Fest Dinner' (and tailgate party) beginning at 4:45pm in the Pirate Student Parking area.

The Rib Crib is offering BBQ pork, beef, or chicken, beans, cole slaw, pickle, roll and lemonade or tea for $10.00, with the Band Boosters and Athletic Boosters equally sharing half of the proceeds.  Our final sales number to the Rib Crib is due Monday October 3rd so time is of the essence to quickly sell as many tickets as possible.  The Rib Crib is being generous in offering a discount per platter which will allow much needed funds for each Booster program.  Please convey your thanks to the Rib Crib for their support.

If you need additional information on how to sell tickets, or for general information, please contact Mitzi Mann at the school:  941-751-8230, x0

We have brand new fundraiser information posted on the fundraiser page. Be sure to check it out and do what you can to help!

Attention Band Parents!!!

WE NEED YOUR HELP....we are in need of more volunteers to help out at the concession stand during both the Freshman and JV Football games!  We have had an unprecidented turn out at our home games causing long lines at the concession stand and we need more people there to help out.  If you can help in any way, even if you can't make it there at the beginning of the game, please email Mitzi Mann and let her know you can help.

The Freshman football games scheduled for this Wednesday 8/31 against Bayshore and next Wednesday 9/7 against Riverview are now both home games for the Pirates.  We need additional volunteers for the concession stand for both games.

Band Fees are due by 9/1 - please use the form that was sent home with your child to determine your payment option.

We have been able to get 2 new refrigerators for the concession stand and a popcorn popper but we are still in need of several items for the concession stands.  We still need 2 or 3 Large (5-6ft long) chest freezers, several gas barbeque grills, Large commercial natural gas deep fryers, and a couple more additional refrigerators.  If you can help or know of where we can acquire these items (preferrably donated) please contact Mitzi Mann.

The Freshman football game scheduled for Thur. 8/25 has been changed to Wed. 8/24 at 6pm.  Those of you that signed up to work on that Freshman game, please let Mitzi know if you are not able to work on Wed.  If anyone else would like to work since the game has been changed, please e-mail or call Mitzi.

Mr. Pauley and Coach Bowling met with the athletic boosters last Monday evening and would like to meet with the Band Boosters next Monday 8/22 at 6pm when we drop off our children.  I hope all of you can attend especially those of you that have never met either of them.

It's Finally OVER!!!

The sore feet, stiff backs, heat exhaustion, sweaty sore bodies.  They are all in the past now.  BAND CAMP IS OVER!!!!!  We started with a group of kids that had for the most part, never marched before in their lives and we ended up with a Family.  The Braden River Pirate Marching Band is here to stay and will let you know that if you come and watch them at the football games this fall.  They have come together as a team to show that against all odds, they are the best!!  Congratulations to Brittany Patterson on an outstanding performance in the final March Off.

Our New Pirate Captain

The Pirate Marching Band is really looking good.  They have started to rehearse the routine they will use for the halftime shows at the football games and it is really coming together.  This week the students elected their Band Captain from a list of 5 Nominees and the winner was Misha!!!  Congratulations Misha, we know you will do a great job leading.  There is an article in the Bradenton Herald which includes a short interview with our new Band Captain and several other band members.  To read the article and see the pictures they took, click HERE.

On Tuesday, July 26th Band Camp began for the Braden RIver Pirates Marching Band.  There are few students with marching experience, but most of the kids have never marched before.  After the second day of band camp, there are alot of sore feet and legs and alot of overtaxed brains. "SQUISH THE BANANA" .... what's that all about?  The kids are having a great time as you can see if you visit our forum and read some of the posts that they are writing.

On Tuesday, July 19th we had our final rehearsal before band camp begins next week.  Our numbers are growing and the band is starting to sound great!  We were able to capture some golden moments of our early Pirate days and the treasures can be viewed on our photo gallery page.

Drumline Auditions
If you missed the drumline auditions, don’t worry, we are having a second set of auditions for those who were out of town. Make plans for early July. You can pick up audition materials in the front office of the school. Mr. Fontenot (percussion instructor) and I will set a date for July when I return from the “BOA Summer Symposium” in the early part of July. Keep checking the school web page for the latest info.

Rehearsals
Every Tuesday night in July we will be rehearsing our halftime/stand music for the upcoming marching season. We are making plans to do our first show on the popular “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Make plans to come out and get an advance look at what we are going to perform during the football (JV/Thursday night) games and for competition (FBA). If you can read music, play an instrument and have a desire to be part of the Braden River High School Pirate Marching Band, come on out and join us. Even you double reed players. We have a spot for you.

Marching Band ♪
All of our marching band music has arrived and can be picked up in the bandroom. Call Mr. Owens at school (ext. - 2263) if you plan to pick up your music prior to our rehearsals in July. We also have rehearsal tracks for everyone to help facilitate your individual practice at home. Instructions will be included with the rehearsal CD track.
